2009 Chapter Key Award
Sigma Theta Tau International will announce that the U of U Gamma Rho chapter is one of the 2009 Chapter Key Award recipients to chapters for overall excellence.
The Chapter Key Award, established in 1991, honors chapters who excel in chapter-related activities such as:
- membership recruitment and retention
- publicity and programming
- professional and leadership development
- local, national and international collaboration
President: Madeline Lassche, MSNEd, RN
Maddie Lassche is an Instructor (Clinical) at the University Of Utah College Of Nursing. Although she primarily teaches in the undergraduate program, she also teaches in the Simulation Learning Center as a faculty facilitator. Prior to teaching, she worked in a variety of health care settings which included pediatric infant medical-surgical, pediatric ICU and was Primary Children's Medical Center staff president. Gamma Rho Chapter History
April, 2008 marked the 30th Anniversary of the University of Utah College of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau chapter, Gamma Rho. The Gamma Rho chapter was officially chartered by Sigma Theta Tau International on April 26, 1978 Maureen Niland, STT national treasurer installed the officers and conducted the proceedings. This celebration was the beginning of the University of Utah's chapter in the National Honor Society of Nursing. Fifteen members transferred from other chapters and seventy-eight (78) new members were inducted. The Dean of the University Of Utah College Of Nursing, Madeline Leininger and the first Chapter President, Joan Uhl offered comments. Sister Francelyn Reeder, Vice President of Gamma Rho gave the closing remarks. Chapter officers included Margaret Adamson; Secretary, Liz Close; Treasurer, and Kay Carbol; Archivist. Advisors were Elizabeth Moses and Kathy McCance. The nurses whom founded our Gamma Rho Chapter were true nursing leaders. Gamma Rho strives to honor the commitment of these leaders by following their example in the support of nursing leadership, scholarship, education and research
