Psychiatric & Mental Health Post Graduate Certificate

Program Description


The Post Graduate Certificate program may be completed in one to two academic years.  The Post Graduate Certificate option is designed to allow individuals with a previous nurse practitioner's degree, earned from a nationally-accredited program, the option of developing an additional area of specialization or meeting academic criteria for advanced practice licensure. Individualized programs of study are designed to meet the professional goals and specific needs of the applicant, as well as the criteria established by the Nurse Practice Act.

Spring
NURS 6310: Mood and Anxiety Disorders (3)
NURS 6320: Psychiatric/Mental Health Practicum I (2)
NURS 6355: Advanced Pathophysiology of Mental Illness (3)

Summer
Utah School on Alcohol and other Drug
       Dependencies Continuing Ed for Grad credit (2)
NURS 6325: Psychiatric/Mental Health Practicum II (2)
*NURS 7020: Advanced Physical Assessment &
                Health Promotion Across the Lifespan (3)

Fall
NURS 6341: Group Therapy (2)
NURS 6350: Psychiatric/Mental Health Practicum III (3)
NURS 6369: Advanced Psychopharmacology (3)

Spring
NURS 6322: Serious & Persistent Mental Illness (3)
NURS 6342: Family Therapy (2)
NURS 6380: Psychiatric/Mental Health Practicum IV (3)

*Courses must be taken if post-graduate has not had them.


How to Apply


Post Graduate Certificate applicants may be accepted each fall, subject to program space availability.  Applications are available fall of the previous year.
