VA Nursing Academy

VA Nursing Academy: One of the first in the country. The Salt Lake VA Medical Center and the University of Utah's College of Nursing were selected for a special partnership initiating the new VA Nursing Academy. The five-year initiative, valued at over $3.5 million, began in 2007 and supports increased student enrollment, recruitment of VA nurses and staff into university nursing programs and collaboration that will improve practice, research and education. Program directors are Lisa Jensen, DNP for the VA and Julie E. Johnson, PhD, FAAN for the College of Nursing.
